How does a route locator detect underground utilities?
The tracer detects electromagnetic induction from live electrical lines. If a de-energized line or pipeline needs to be traced, a generator is connected to one end of the line and then a search is performed across the surveyed area. If the lines are inaccessible, a surface generator is activated, which in turn transmits a signal to all metal objects within a 10-meter radius, allowing for the detection of hidden underground lines.
